Last Field Trip

Our last off campus trip for this school year will be next Thursday morning. All students in grades Kinder through 5th grade will be traveling to the Centrum to practice for the Awards / Choral / Graduation Program. A permission slip is available on the Forms and Information page and should be returned on Monday.

Awards Night and Kindergarten Graduation

Our Annual Awards Night and Kindergarten Graduation is scheduled for next Thursday, May 24. Prek 3 and Prek 4 students will sing and Prek4 students will receive their Preschool Diplomas. Kindergarteners will graduate and every elementary student will receive awards!

Kindergarten Caps & Gowns

If your child is in Kindergarten, their Caps & Gowns are coming home today. Please check their backpack right away for this item. Also, please read the care instructions carefully (available on the Forms and Information page).

NOON DISMISSAL DAY

Our last day of school, Friday, May 25, is a noon dismissal day. Reservations for After Care (after 12:00) were due today. If you need care after noon next Friday, but did not return a reservation form, call the office immediately to check on availability.

End-of-the-Year Parties

Classes will be celebrating the end of the school year on Friday morning. Please sign up at your child’s classroom for treats for their parties. (We appreciate you avoiding or labeling products containing peanuts.)

WACKY WEEK

Next week we are going to celebrate our last week of the school year in style! We will be observing Free Dress all week, but with a Wacky twist. Please see the attached flyer for all the information. We will be choosing winners in each category each day.

Stanford Achievement Tests

We want to thank all of our parents for doing such a great job in helping to prepare your student for testing week with nutritious breakfast and snacks, lots of sleep, and a quiet building. The tests will now be sent to Pearson Publishing for scoring. As soon as results arrive, we will forward them to you. (We normally receive our testing results in early June.)

This past Saturday, students traveled to Webster, TX to compete in our last academic competition of the year. All of our students did a great job. We are especially proud of students who medaled at this event. Congratulations to:

Employee of the Year

Ballots for Employee of the Year are going home today. In order to be eligible for EOY, a staff member must have been employed at CCA for the entire school year (since August 17). We can only accept one ballot per family, and ballots must be signed. (They are kept confidential.) In order to be counted, please place your ballot in either tuition box (in preschool or elementary) no later than Friday, April 27 at noon.

Stanford Achievement Tests

If your child is in grades Kindergarten through 5th, they will be taking the SAT achievement tests next week, April 23 – 27. These tests are very important because they help us to determine specific needs that individual students have, as well as, determining how we can make our academic program stronger.

There are ways that you can help your child to do their very best and relieve stress during this testing week.

• Make sure your child is in bed early each night. A rested child scores higher and is less stressed about testing.
• Make sure your child has a nutritious (not sugary) breakfast before coming to school each day. Remember, breakfast is the brain’s fuel and it will help your child to think more clearly as he/she take tests.
• Pack a nutritious mid-morning snack for your child each day. Teachers will still observe morning snack breaks during the test week. A snack might be just the thing to pep up a tired or sleepy child. Please avoid sugary snacks and juices.
• Make sure your child is on time every day. Tests will begin immediately at 8:45 a.m. following praise and worship each day. (There will be no chapel on Thursday next week.) Children who are rushing in as tests begin, start their test stressed out. We cannot hold up testing for late students. Tardy students will have to wait in the office until their class finishes the subtest in progress before they can enter the classroom. We do not guarantee that missed tests can be made up.
• Make sure your child is present each day unless it is completely unavoidable. Make-up tests can be stressful for children and present unnecessary concerns to them. We highly encourage you to have your child at school every single day next week if at all possible. Also, scheduling make-up tests delays our ability to return all of our tests for scoring. This delays getting results back in a timely manner. We are also under a time constraint for returning tests for scoring, so makeup tests are not guaranteed.
• Be available to talk to your child each afternoon or evening about any concerns they might have….some children do tend to become stressed or anxious by this kind of testing, and an encouraging word is usually all they need. What should you tell your child? Tell them that these tests are very important, but they will not affect promotion to the next grade level. Tell them that if they try their hardest and do their very best, then they will have done their job well.

ACSI Art Festival and ACSI Science Fair

Congratulations to all students who qualified to participate in the ACSI Art Festival (today in Bellville) and the ACSI Science Fair (tomorrow in Webster). We wish everyone the very best as these competitions finish out our ACSI season.

If your child will be attending the Science Fair tomorrow, please make sure to review the Science Fair information that was sent home in red folders. This information is also available on the Forms and Information page.

Also, please note that the host school has emailed us and indicated that students may bring electronic games to help them pass the time while waiting for all the judging to take place. Help us spread the word to your friends who are also attending!

Book Fair

Scholastic Book Fairs will be here next week (March 26 – 30). The fair will be open daily from 3:45 – 6 p.m. for parents who wish to shop. Also, you may send money to school with your child. Classes will be given time during the week to shop in the Book Fair as well. Please remember that when you purchase Scholastic materials, you help earn resources for your child’s classroom!

Parent/Teacher Conference Day and NOON DISMISSAL

This is a reminder about Parent/Teacher Conference Day. Conferences will be held next Friday, March 30. Elementary teachers are required to meet with at least one parent from each family in their class on or before this date. Sign-up sheets for available conference times are posted on classroom doors, so sign up early to secure a time that is convenient for your schedule. Also, please note that March 30 is a Noon Dismissal day for children in elementary (K – 5th) grades. Only students with reservations for After Care on that day can be in school after noon. Reservation sheets are available on the Forms and Information page and must be returned by next Tuesday, March 27. Prek4 students have a normal schedule on this day. (Please note: Only elementary students staying for After Care will be served lunch on March 30. If you ordered lunch for March 30, but plan to pick your child up at noon, simply call the Healthy Lunchbox before March 30 at 281-444-8444 or 832-372-8300 for a credit. Prek4 students will be on a normal lunch schedule.)

ACSI Art Festival

Prek4 Art

We realized that following our Art Festival, we published the ACSI elementary winners, but we neglected to publish the Prek4 winners. Although Prek students cannot go on to the regional art fest, we choose winners on a local level to recognize achievement and to foster an interest in competition for later years. We apologize that we did not list these winners earlier. Congratulations to our Prek winning artists: 1st Place: Zyon Lusk; 2nd Place – Cameron Hawkins; and 3rd Place Jamison Jackson.
