Spring Break Reservation Forms

Spring Break is next week (March 12 – 16). During this week, Prek4 classes continue normally and tuition is due regardless of attendance. For elementary students, a Spring Break fee of $110 for the week (or $22 per day) applies and must be paid in advance. Both Elementary and Prek4 must have a reservation form if care is needed that week. Reservation forms were due on March 6. If you need care but did not return a form, call the office by 6 p.m. today to check on availability.

Re-Enrollment

Enrollment for the 2012/2013 school year has been brisk! Thank you for all the early enrollments as it really helps us plan and begin our purchasing for next school year. In order to secure your child’s spot for next school year, we must have two items: the Re-enrollment form and the $100 Registration Fee ($200 for sixth grade). Forms are available in the elementary office or on the Forms and Information page. For parents who pay their registration fee and the entire book fee by June 1, they will receive a $100 discount on August tuition.

Picture Day

Picture Day in the elementary building (Prek4 – 5th grade) is scheduled for Thursday, March 22. On this day we will take individual school pictures, class pictures, and Kindergarten graduation pictures. Full chapel uniforms are required for school pictures. Unfortunately we do not have time during spring pictures for sibling photos. (The preschool building will take pictures on Friday, March 23.)

Parent / Teacher Conference Day and NOON DISMISSAL

This is a very early notice about Parent/Teacher Conference Day. Conferences will be held on Friday, March 30 this year. Elementary teachers are required to meet with at least one parent from each family in their class on or before this date. Sign-up sheets for available conference times will be on classroom doors the week we return from Spring Break, so sign up early to secure a time that is convenient for your schedule. Also, please note that March 30 is a Noon Dismissal day for children in elementary (K – 5th) grades. Reservations for After Care on that day will be sent out after Spring Break. Prek4 students have a normal schedule on this day.

Lunches

Please remember that late lunch orders cannot be handled through the school. For late orders, you must call the HLB at 281-444-8444 or 832-372-8300.

Science Fair

What a great Science Fair! We had the most competitive fair we’ve ever had with point values closer than they’ve ever been before. As a matter of fact, point values were so close, that we felt it was appropriate to award “Honorable Mention” ribbons for students whose point value was less than one point below the winner. (Honorable Mention projects do not advance to the next level.) Students were scored in the ACSI divisions and categories required. Congratulations to the following students:

Division – 3rd/4th Grade

Life Science

  • 1st Place: Taylor Albrecht (tie)
  • 1st Place: Joseph Mathew (tie)
  • Honorable Mention: Braeden Tucker-Staley (tie)
  • Honorable Mention: Samantha Rico (tie)

All the projects were awesome and were judged by our Science Fair judges. Congratulations to the following second graders:

Fifth and Sixth Grade

As most of you know, we have completed our polling of Fifth grade parents, and believe we have the commitment level to add Sixth Grade next year! Therefore, we are moving ahead with plans to do just that. Some of the plans include adding a science lab next year and also replacing one of our preschool playgrounds with a basketball court. We are also planning a schedule of monthly outings as well. We are looking at many other options and will be focused on setting up this program for the next several months. We are very excited that some younger grades will also be able to take advantage of changes that will be made to accommodate middle school grades. For example, fourth and fifth grade classrooms will benefit from the science lab on a bi-monthly basis.

As you all know, with the changes we’re making, CCA will be committing a lot of funds with the addition of Sixth grade. This will mean hiring new staff, funding for the science lab, and so on. This is why, when I talked with each Fifth grade parent, I told you guys that to begin following through with this project, we need parents who are committed to sixth grade next year (fifth grade parents this year) to pay their $100 Registration Fee and $100 of their book fee by March 15. We have already had some parents follow through with this financial commitment and we thank you so much for your quick action to do so! If you are planning to be here in sixth grade, but need help with payments for the $200 commitment, please call myself or Kim Young and we will help you with that.

We are very excited about what the 2012/13 school year will hold! We will be sending out more information as the plans for sixth grade development. We also welcome any input, suggestions, or questions you may have about this new venture. Please feel free to call me and I’ll help in any way I can. As always, we appreciate you!

Last Friday, we mistakenly listed the date of Open House as March 2. It is actually next Thursday, February 2. We strongly encourage parents of children in grades Kinder and above to attend. If your child is in Prek4, you are also welcome to attend, but we actually have a special Open House planned just for you. It’s called Kindergarten Round-up and is scheduled for Thursday, February 16. Keep watching Chatter news for more information.

Officer Martinez is the father of Victoria Martinez, Prek4C Aide. Thanks Victoria for sharing your dad with us!

Thanks for letting us be a part of the answer for Jace this year and thank you for serving our country.
